Accessibility at HistoryMiami
HistoryMiami aims to connect all visitors to the stories of Miami’s individuals, places and events.
Accessible Parking
There are two parking facilities available to visitors who use wheelchairs or require handicapped parking.
Miami-Dade Cultural Center Garage, 50 NW 2nd Avenue
Take the south elevator to the second floor exit. Exit this floor and follow the pathway across a covered, above street level footbridge that leads directly to the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza.
Accessible Street-Level Parking Lot - NW 1st Avenue (between NW 1st Street and Flagler Street)
Accessible parking is available for visitors with a state permit. Lot entrance is located on the East side of the Cultural Center off of NW 1st Avenue between NW 1st Street and Flagler Street. Entrance to the Cultural Plaza: From the street parking lot, you will find a public elevator on the opposite side of NW 1st Street, located mid-block on the North side opposite the Miami-Dade Cultural Center. This elevator leads to a footbridge to the Miami-Dade Cultural Center Plaza.
Wheelchairs
HistoryMiami invites wheelchair users to visit us. Building entrances are wheelchair accessible and restrooms may be accessed on the third floor. There is a central elevator available. A complimentary wheelchair is available at the Visitor Services Desk on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sign Language
Sign language interpretation for a scheduled program is available with two weeks advance notice.
Large Print Materials
Large print handouts of the text panels for our temporary exhibitions are available from the Visitor Services Desk.
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices are available by request for all HistoryMiami sponsored events. Please email accessibility@historymiami.org with your request two weeks prior to your visit to HistoryMiami. Devices will be available at the Visitor Services Desk.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcomed at HistoryMiami.
Touch Tours
HistoryMiami offers touch tours of our permanent exhibition "Tropical Dreams" every Sunday at 1:00 pm. Come enjoy this unique tactile experience free with admission. To sign up for a tour please visit the Visitor Services Desk at HistoryMiami.
