Journey to Fort Lauderdale with HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George, aboard the Brightline – South Florida’s new passenger railway system. Hear stories of Henry Flagler and his historic railroad as you take in the sights, from the high-rises of Downtown Miami and the lush greenspace of the Miami City Cemetery, to the street art of Wynwood.
Once the train has reached its destination, Dr. George will lead you on a walking tour of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Explore the Himmarshee Historic District, bounded by the New River and the railroad, and view the Philemon Bryan House, the King-Cromartie House, the historic Bryan homes, and the restored New River Inn, among others. See the Fort Lauderdale Women’s Club, designed by acclaimed architect August Geiger, and Stranahan Park, as you make your way back to the train station.
