It began more than 10,000 years ago with the arrival of prehistoric Indians and continues to the multi-cultural metropolis of today. Connect with South Florida’s history. Learn about our city’s diverse contributions and the many people who call Miami home.
Tour is approximately 1 hour and lead by a Museum Educator.

Delve into the storied past of Downtown Miami with HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George, as you walk along historic Flagler Street. Hear tales of the area’s earliest known inhabitants, the Tequesta, as you view the Miami River. Learn the history of Miami’s founders – Julia Tuttle, Henry Flagler, and William and Mary Brickell and share in conversations with locals.
