Teen Miami

Sunday Sep 23, 2012 - Sunday Jun 9, 2013

Teen Miami is a cross-decade exploration of teen history and culture in Miami. Learn how Miami adolescents were impacted by World War II and the Vietnam War, listen to the sounds created by local teen garage bands and R&B stars of the 1960s, examine the role teens played in integrating Miami’s high schools, and view the distinct fashion statements made by them through the decades.

Teen Miami is organized by HistoryMiami in conjunction with 21 Miami-Dade county teens participating in a three-year museum internship program.

The Teen Miami online exhibit is a supplement to the museum exhibition. See some of our teen artifacts that we could not show, view artifacts submitted to us from native Miamians, experience oral histories collected by the teen curators, and tell us your story.

Teen Miami is sponsored by the AT&T Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Arts Council, and the Division of Historical Resources.
