Getting to Know History
Join HistoryMiami Museum and Miami Dade County Public Schools for an exciting day exploring history. Discover fossils, pirates, and pioneers with a 2 pm tour of our permanent exhibition Tropical Dreams: A People’s History of South Florida. Be part of the MDCPS History Fair: Breaking Barriers in History, and see presentations from students about world, national, and/or state history and its relevance.

Arts of Peru
Immerse yourself in the music, cuisine, and customs of Peru! Enjoy craft activities inspired by Peruvian traditions; hear a storytime reading of the legend of the Chilalo, a beloved character in Peruvian folklore; and experience an ancient Peruvian ceramic art form during live demonstrations (at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) by master artisan and HistoryMiami artist-in-residence Polo Ramirez.

The BlackFlorida project
Embracing the Lens: the BlackFlorida project, an exhibition of the photography of Johanne Rahaman curated by Dr. Jeffreen M. Hayes, presents a living archive of photographs and personal histories documenting the people and everyday life of Florida’s Black communities. Take a tour through the exhibition with Rahaman at 2:00 p.m. and enjoy craft activities, storytime, music, and more.
