Gift Planning

HistoryMiami Museum offers many alternatives that help you create your legacy through a transformational gift to the museum. Some simple options are a gift to our endowment, including a gift to HistoryMiami Museum in a will, making the museum the beneficiary on an insurance policy, a bank account or an IRA. These options allow you and your loved ones to continue enjoying your current lifestyle today, while making provision for what is truly meaningful to you tomorrow.

To discuss your legacy gift planning options, please call Hilda Masip at 305-375-1618 or hmasip@historymiami.org. See below for some helpful Legacy Gift Planning information.

The Marcia J. Kanner Memorial Fund

Marcia Kanner loved HistoryMiami, serving as the museum’s trustee, chairman of the board and endowment coordinator. With Dr. Joe Fitzgerald, she created Miami International Map Fair, the museum’s signature event and the largest map fair in the western hemisphere, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018.

After her death in 2017, Marcia’s husband Lewis Kanner with family support created the Marcia J. Kanner Memorial Fund to keep alive her spirit and passion. Marcia loved not just the museum but its mission to preserve and celebrate Miami’s history as the unique crossroads of the Americas. The family designated the fund to sponsor A People’s History of South Florida Program Series to reflect Marcia’s desire to make local history resonant and accessible. Free and open to the public, the series brings history alive by exploring how South Florida’s rich diversity and past has shaped our dynamic home today.

There are various opportunities available to sponsor major exhibitions, school programs, public programs, special events, as well as research and collections conservation projects. Corporate sponsors make it possible for thousands of people to benefit from HistoryMiami Museum programs each year.

HistoryMiami Museum sponsorship opportunities are customized to meet your company’s specific goals while maintaining our mission. To learn more about Corporate Sponsorship, please e-mail the Development Office.
